Love My Audiobooks!
Yes I admit – I LOVE audiobooks! I listen almost everyday and love every second.
My love for audiobooks came very early. Actually when I started listening to books, they were on cassette tapes – now I’m really showing my age! LOL! I would stick the tape in the player and listen while I did my chores around the house. Later I would go on to listen on CDs while I was driving, cooking, cleaning, etc. Now, since you can download paid or free books, I listen as much as I can. Audiobooks are one way that I’m able to read about 100 books a year (a goal I set for myself every January 1st).
Some would say that I’m not actually “reading” a book but I beg to differ. I’m listening to a book and as far as I’m concerned, it’s the same to me. I still take notes or even “reread” a passage if I want to clarify something I don’t understand. I would say that I listen to about 30% non-fiction and 70% fiction.
Though I still love holding a book in my hand when reading, listening to audiobooks makes things convenient especially when you are cooking, cleaning, getting ready in the morning, driving, etc. Instead of listening to the news (which I haven’t for years now) or the radio, I can get lost in a good book, either enjoying a great story or learning something new to enrich my life.
I’m hoping next year to bring all my novels to audio. I’ve had numerous requests for this project but just haven’t had the time to stick recording into my schedule. I was going to let someone else read the books but have decided to do it myself. Well, we’ll see how it goes. My test listeners might not like the sound of my voice so we shall see.
My “Go To” for audiobooks is Audible.com and my local library. I use the library the most because it’s free!! Yes, you can download audiobooks to your smartphone, tablet or computer and listen to books for free. How cool is that? This makes reading more books easier for a lot of people.
Give audiobooks a try! I think you just might like them!
Big Hugs Everyone!
