Have you ever been in a situation where you really want to say yes but because of circumstances you have to say no?
I was in a situation recently that put me in this dilemma. There was a place I wanted to go. I had been looking forward to it, planning for it – you know, all that fun stuff. Anyway, the day came to go on this excursion and my body said, “Hey, Miki, I want to stay home. No, make that, you NEED to stay home.” I was bummed!
I bantered back and forth in my mind on whether to go or stay and at first made the decision to go. Just fight through how I was feeling physically but at the last minute, I made the decision to say no. To stay home and honor what my body was telling me. Was I a bit upset? You bet! Was I a bit irritated? Of course! I felt like I was missing out. But it was the right decision and I knew that deep down. My body needed to rest. My little illness was in a flare up and I needed to get things back under control. By staying home and resting, I helped the situation.
There are times in your life that you have to say no. As much as you want to say yes to go somewhere or do something or see a new place or try something, its not the right decision. And if you are truthful with yourself, you know it. Your intuition is telling you what you need. The problem is that sometimes we listen and sometimes we don’t.
This year I’m trying to listen to my body better. I mean actually becoming more aware of what it needs so I can be my best self. This will allow me to do those things I want to do. It may mean making some tough choices but I’m willing to try. And this recent situation was a test of me listening to my body instead of doing what I wanted to do. Put one in the “Win” column for listening to my intuition and making self-care more important.
Do you listen to your intuition? Please do! It will guide you along your best path.
