Have you ever asked yourself what you are curious about?
In a lot of my blog posts and my social media videos, I’ve mention plenty of times about finding your passion, going after your dreams and goals. I’ve always just sat down and thought about what I’d like to achieve but then I remembered I should ask myself this important question: What am I curious about? I’ve spent the last several weeks asking myself this question, something I had failed to think about when planning for 2019. But now that it is on my radar, my curiosity is leading me in different directions than I originally planned for this year but still close to my goals.
When you ask yourself what you are curious about, it seems to lift the limitations from your thinking. Instead of expecting yourself to set lofty goals or dream someone else’s dream, when you ponder on what you’re curious about, you’ll think about all sorts of things, big and small. Maybe you want to own your own business but at the same time would love to learn everything you can about sea turtles. Using the word “curious” seems to let your imagination run and if you write down what comes to mind I bet you will have a list that is so diverse it will astound you and make you smile at the same time.
Next time you are setting goals and thinking about your dreams, ask yourself first what you’re curious about then write your thoughts down. I bet (because it is happening to me) that your goals/dreams are still there but they might change just a little from what you originally had planned. You may even be happier about your goals than you were before!
