Wow, this morning was so awesome! Early morning at the beach – the best way to start the day.
Since things had been pretty busy in my world this past week, my “nature” time had been spent down on the dock by the river. Now don’t get me wrong – I love it there. But as I’ve said many times before, my happy place is the beach. I try to go as much as I can, even taking my iPad with a keyboard, finding a picnic table on the pier and writing.
This morning we got up early, packed up the pup this time and headed to the county park at Folly Beach. Once we got there, we walked to where the river meets the ocean. You could see the power of these two bodies of water as they collided with the ocean winning the contest.
Plus there were tidal pools everywhere! These pools are great for observing sea creatures up close and personal. Today we were treated with lots of blue crabs and stingrays! Was hoping to see a small shark like we did last time but not this trip.
This was Emma’s 2ndofficial trip to Folly Beach and she loved it. We finally got her to go in the water and she even got close to a crab or two before we made sure she didn’t find out what those pinchers could do.
Another great thing was the beach was covered in seashells. Beautiful ones! Jeff and I picked quite a few that I can’t wait to incorporate in the decor around the house and into the jewelry I make. They are sitting in cleaning liquid as I write this, hopefully ready for a little polishing tomorrow.
I hope you were able to take a bit of time for yourself this weekend. But it’s also important to take it every day. I’ve been doing this for a while now and it does make a difference. It is as important as taking time to exercise or to cook healthy meals or spending time with family. Everyone deserves a little TLC every day even if it’s only for 5 minutes.
