I’m so excited to FINALLY be able to show you my own little writer/art nook! I figured since it’s 90% organized, I couldn’t wait to give you a peak.
I’ve always wanted a room of my own but until all the kids moved out, it wasn’t possible. Until then, I had rolling carts and tote bags filled with my art supplies, books, yarn, tech gadgets and more. My supplies were organized, thank goodness, but it feels SO GOOD to have a room all to myself.
I took one room for my creative endeavors and Jeff took another and turned it into a Ham Radio room (I’ll have to show some pics later!). It has taken me a long time to get my space together because even though I’ve had it for 3 years it seemed like every time I tried to fix it up, it didn’t feel right to me.
Last year when we had to make improvements to our home due to my illness, I finally made the commitment to get this room fixed up and, most of all, ORGANIZED! I wanted to know where everything was because when I first moved my supplies into the room everything was so scattered and it would take so much time trying to find what I needed.
I’ve been working on it since last Fall but when I had friends coming to visit the end of January, that was the final push for me to get the room finished. I love the results! I will say I have a few more things I want to do: add more of my paintings to the walls, some more organizing needs to be done in the closet (where the Boho curtain is) and move my cutting machine and paper supplies closer to one of my work tables. But really those things are small and can be done over the next few weeks.
I also now use the room for doing social media videos. I love the lighted curtain backdrop on the wall and have the lighting equipment to start making more videos for my YouTube channel. Since there is more to me than just writing novels, I’ll be making more videos on a variety of subjects! More to come!
I will say I LOVE writing while sitting on the little daybed. I prop myself up with pillows and blankets then open the blinds on the window. This gives me the perfect view of my front yard and the river beyond. Relaxing and inspiring.
Thanks for letting me share my little space with you. And look for future posts for some organizing tips and tricks, craft projects, videos and more! Oh and yes – more novels too!
