Yes, once more, I’m going to try to grow a small herb garden. It’s almost become a running joke around my home because, though I have a green thumb with most plants, I seem to be challenged when growing something edible.
I’m going to start small, growing just 4 different herbs: parsley, thyme, sage and lavender. I’m still making sure I have the right location, containers, soil and such. I’m seriously planning this out so hopefully I’ll have little seedlings in the next few weeks. I should have started a bit sooner but oh well. My goal is to make it past this small hurdle of herbs and be able to grow more of my own food.
Our backyard is the perfect size for a small garden but our soil isn’t the best: we have red clay. If I want to grow anything back there it will have to be in containers or in raised beds. Jeff and I are researching an idea and hopefully it will work. If so, I’ll be growing squash, zucchini, and green beans – this would be awesome! But the herbs are going to be planted first even though I probably should work on the veggies right now. Just remember you gardeners out there: I’m still learning about gardening even though I’ve tried over the years to grow many things outdoors. Thank goodness for Google – I can do some super research to help me in this process.
When I have pictures of my plants, you can bet I’ll definitely be sharing.
Big Hugs!
