As the weather gets a bit warmer with each passing day, we’re seeing more wildlife emerging around our house. And I love it!
Where Jeff and I live is sort of amazing. Though our home is in the city, we have a large piece of property along the Ashley River. This allows an amazing amount of wildlife to wander through our yard and we love watching all the creatures – big and small.
To begin with, numerous birds have began to make nests all around our porch. The other morning my husband was greeted with 5 deer in the yard, munching on the grass. We have a new baby alligator in the pond – yet to be named. “Snap”, our resident gator from last year hasn’t shown up but I’m sure she/he will be here shortly. We’re beginning to see the normal raccoons, opossums, foxes and bobcats. But we’re keeping our fingers crossed that no coyotes came sneaking around our home. We’re getting ready to grace our porch with several Hummingbird feeders and I can’t wait to watch the tiny birds flit back and forth.
If you can, connect with nature. If you live in the city, it can be a challenge but even taking the time to look at birds flying by or watching them splash in a mud puddle can be relaxing, and even comical at times. If you are lucky enough like we are to watch nature in action, take time to relish those amazing moments.
PS – One thing I love about the “Camping in High Heels” series is the amount of wildlife that Kate and Brandon get to experience in their travels! Some of those stories are things I experienced!
