The Tree In My Front Yard Has Eyes – Having Some Creative Fun!

Not too long ago I saw a picture on Facebook: someone had taken two beach balls, painted them to look like eyeballs then proceeding to put them in the tree in their front yard. It was too funny and I knew as soon as I saw it I had to do this too.

You see, the road I live on has this big curve. One of our oak trees is in perfect view of everyone coming around the corner and I knew that the “eyes” would be perfect in that tree! It would be something fun to do and bring a bit of laughter to the neighborhood.

I got the beach balls (wished they were a little bigger) then used a big Sharpie marker to make the “eyes”. Jeff and I bound them together and away we went. Putting them in the tree was harder than I thought it would be but it also brought a lot of laughter. Not just from the two of us trying our best to throw ropes around tree branches to hoist the “eyes” high enough but also from the onlookers that kept slowing their vehicles down wondering what the heck we were doing. I think we laughed the whole time except for a few moments of frustration when the “eyes” kept turning the wrong way due to the wind.

We finally got them positioned but not exactly where we wanted them. There is a branch in the way but we are going to try to reposition them tomorrow. But for now, they are kinda cute and have already brought a smile to some of the people that live around us.

It’s fun to be creative and do something totally out of the box. Thanks to whoever put that picture on Facebook, giving me the idea. Now to look for more creative ways to have fun!

Happy Saturday!
