The Lorelei Restaurant in Islamorada

When you go to the Florida Keys, there is a restaurant I highly recommend in Islamorada: The Lorelei.

I discovered this gem on the morning of one of my book signings. We were looking for a quick place to grab some breakfast and I just happened to see the sign. But we couldn’t have found a more perfect place for an early morning breakfast.

Situated on the Bay side of the island, the restaurant and Cabana bar is on the water and is also right beside a marina. We found a great table under a big umbrella and before we knew it, our breakfast was served. As we enjoyed our wonderful food, we made a new friend – an Egret named “Poppy”. And his favorite food was eggs! Poppy would get so interested in the guests plates that he would come almost up to the table but it wouldn’t be long before a wait staff would tell him to leave, which he would quickly move away. But this past March when we went back to this fav place, we found out that Poppy hadn’t been seen since Hurricane Irma but there was a new resident Egret: Robert. Now, he was a bit more aggressive and even took food off my plate!

The Lorelei has been voted best sunset view in Islamorada. Have to admit that we haven’t been there in the evenings but plan to on our next trip. They also have live music nightly from some of the finest musicians in the Florida Keys. Oh and the food: delicious!

Make sure to put this restaurant on your Florida Keys “to do” list. I think you are going to like it!

Big Hugs!
