On Day 29 of “Thankful November” I have to write about how grateful I am for music.
I absolutely LOVE music! I think I came out of the womb listening to music. I even recall my first record player and how, when I would get home from school, I didn’t watch TV after homework and household chores. I would listen to music and usually draw in my little blank books (now they’re called journals). I still have my collection of 45s and vinyl LPs.
This all began because of my mom. She loves music too and when I was a baby, she would usually put me to bed and play Beatles music (yes I’m dating myself here!). To this day I know just about every lyric to the Beatles most famous hits. Side note: That tells you about the power of the subconscious mind!
These days my large collection of music resides on my computer, iPhone and iPad. I make sure I’m able to listen wherever I am. As for the music I listen to? All of it except opera. Not that I have anything against opera but it’s just not my thing.
I have various playlists for different music. Probably my favorite list is called “Movie Magic”. I adore the songs from movies! Since it’s mostly instrumental tunes, I’ll play this when I’m writing or doing something creative. It’s a lot of fun to paint to music because one song can go from a mellow tune to very bold!
Right now Christmas music fills my home and car. It’s the same tunes each year but that doesn’t matter. Just another way of making this time of year special.
So what are you grateful for today?
