On Day 26 of “Thankful November” I’m so grateful for creativity.
First, when I mention the word “creativity” in a group of people, almost inevitably at least 50% of the people will say “I’m not creative” to which I answer “WRONG!”
I think most people look at creativity like you have to be an artist, writer, make crafts, photography, etc. Yes, all those activities fall into the category of creativity but there is so much to this incredible word.
You are creative! Everyone is! It might not fit the definition you’ve always held in your mind but here are a few ways people are creative and don’t know it:
-Making a new recipe from scratch
-Describing a problem in a way someone else can understand it
-Finding ways to help the elderly or sick that someone else wouldn’t be able to do
-Doing something with your family that is out of the norm like going to a park and inventing a new game
These are just a few small suggestions to let people know that creativity exists in so many forms. I’m creative with the books I write, the way I decorate my house, my crocheting, making jewelry, painting, coming up with new adventures that my husband and I can do around town for free, attending a concert or show that I never would have thought to go to and so much more. Basically, you are creative when you think outside your normal “box”.
I’m so grateful for “out of the box” thinking and being able to tap into my creativity. Please don’t tell yourself you’re not creative because you are. It might look different from your friend or family member and that’s great. Celebrate your uniqueness! Take some time to think about ways in the past you’ve been creative and didn’t know it now that you know creativity is different from what you have believed previously.
What are you grateful for today?
