On Day 24 of “Thankful November,” I’m grateful for times that I take the time for a little self-care.
In this world of the ever-growing “To Do” list, it’s nice to say that, for a few minutes, hours, or even for a day, that I’m going to allow myself some time that’s unplanned. That I’m going to do something to relax and have fun or maybe do nothing at all! Some personal self-care!
I will admit, I’m someone that likes to be doing something all the time but taking time off is good for all of us, both mentally and physically. I think we could all use a bit of downtime where we are taking care of ourselves. I would almost venture to say that taking time off, whether big or small, should be a daily self-care practice for everyone.
Something that is helping me achieve this slowing down process is meditation. Not too long ago on social media, I asked for suggestions for an app that helps with meditation and visualization. I’ve been trying out several: Calm, Insight, Headspace, Breathe. So far I like Calm and Insight. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
So I’m grateful that I can make time for a bit of white space – downtime from every day life. I’m still a work in process, but I’m getting better at it each day. I’m just happy that I have the support of my husband and family that encourages me to take time for some self-care because then I’m able to be there for those around me.
What are you grateful for today?
