On Day 22 of “Thankful November”, we are celebrating Thanksgiving here in the United States. A day where we give thanks for the blessings in our life.
I love Thanksgiving. A dinner that’s prepared with love is always the best! Our Thanksgiving feasts have been as little as 10 people to as many as 50 or 60, depending on people’s schedules, since my extended family is so large. We also have a tradition, no matter the size of the group gathered together, that we each say something we are grateful for.
Then there is the time we get to spend time with family and friends – it’s wonderful. These days it seems that everyone is extremely busy so to have one day where we all come together and catch up in person is priceless.
But today also reminds me of the sacrifice our founding fathers made so long ago. Those brave souls who decided that they wanted to live a free life. I can’t imagine landing on a rocky beach, in an unknown wild land and starting a new life not knowing anything about my new surroundings. This is courage so tremendous it’s hard to measure.
Now if you don’t live in the United States and your country doesn’t have a day of thanksgiving, you can still celebrate with us today, taking a moment and reflecting on how grateful you are for the things that are special to you.
What are you thankful for today?
Big Hugs and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
