Early this morning, I needed to do errands. One of them was a visit to Walmart which, as you can probably surmise this time of the year, is busy. I wasn’t excited about going but knew I had to. And boy I’m glad I did!
As I was walking out of the store, I heard police sirens – lots of them! At first I was concerned, knowing something bad must have happened. But when I stepped outside, I saw one police car after another, lights blazing and sirens sounding off full blast, filling the Walmart parking lot. When I finally asked what was going on, it brought tears to my eyes.
You see, each police officer had one or two children with them in the car. They had all gone to breakfast and now the officers were taking the children on a shopping spree. They got to purchase whatever they wanted! I watched children so excited, holding hands with their designated officer and practically jumping up and down with anticipation as they walked to the store.
I have to admit that I had tears in my eyes as I watched this scene unfold. Then I had the good fortune of talking to one of the parents. He explained in more detail of what was going on and that his son was one of the participating children. The happiness on this parent’s face was something I’ll never forget.
I love when I get to witness an amazing act of kindness. We see more around the holidays but wouldn’t it be nice if it was special like this all year long?
Big Hugs!

I’ve never seen it in person but they do that here every year. Fund raising all year, donation jars at businesses in town. It’s wonderful.
