Sometimes You Have To Face Some Roadblocks To Reach Your Goals

Now that I look back on my morning, I have to laugh. But I must say that at the time I couldn’t believe how many obstacles came up to try to keep me from going to the beach for some writing time but I prevailed – well somewhat.

As you know, I love going to the beach for some writing time. Getting away from the house where there can be so many distractions, helps the creative process. But this morning was different. Instead of my usual arrival time of 9am by the shore, I pulled into my usual parking space around 11:15am. And after looking around I was lucky the space was even available!

The reason for my delay this morning was a number of things: getting up late; trying to find something to eat that I could fix quickly; almost running out of gas and barely finding one close by; one of our local bridges opened to let a rather large sailboat pass by and then there was the crowd at the beach.

It is the height of vacation season and it seems everyone is getting in as much beach time as possible before school starts in less than a month (so hard to believe!). But this morning the beach was crowded A LOT MORE than usual. I couldn’t even find a place to do my writing, which has never been a problem so I opted for a walk in the waves, watching the children play in the water and sand, fascinated and laughing.

I tell you all of this because even though I had more than a few setbacks to reach the beach this morning, I persevered and made it. Granted, I didn’t get there till late and wasn’t able to do my planned writing but I kept going.

Sometimes we have goals that just seem a bit out of our reach. I believe if we will keep going even if it is around or over some roadblocks, we’ll see our dreams come true.

Sending happy vibes!

Miki
