We all know that 2020 has handed us all a big dose of stress! From exciting new adventures to times when we are feeling beaten and bruised, stress comes in all forms.
Are You Under Stress?
Not only have we had to deal with a new virus invading our world but here in the United States, we’ve dealt with racial issues, a heated election and so much more. So stress is happening on so many levels.
Then, on top of these stressors, each of us have had our own hurdles to jump over. Whether it’s been health issues, relationships in chaos, feeling overwhelmed by finances, etc., or happy events such as weddings or the birth of a new baby, it seems that everyone I have talked to has their own list of stress inducing events. Yes, it has been that kind of year and I feel pretty sure you would agree.
Now Let’s Write!
Today and this week, let’s write about the stress in our lives. I believe that writing out these feelings helps in so many ways. You get to remove it (as best as you can) from your mind to paper. This gives you a different perspective on the event and how you can make things better or truly enjoy the happy moments by not letting the stress take control. Yes, it takes courage, patience and a lot of practice but we can tame down the stress monster.
Write about these questions in your journal and see if they might help you with the stress in your life.
- Make a list of issues – good and not so good – in your life that are causing you stress.
- How do you react to the stress in your life?
- Are there certain things you can include in your daily routine to help combat stress?
- Are there people in your life that would help you deal with your stress?
There are only four questions this week because they’re all heavy duty! I encourage you to take more than just a day with each prompt to help you to identify your stressors and make a plan so that you can deal with the them. This is something everyone needs to do for some real selfcare.
