Need Some Creative Inspiration? Try Music!
When you work in a creative field, sometimes you need something to help you find some inspiration. I know when I’m writing and feel a bit out of sorts with my stories, I find that music brings me just the inspiration I need!
Ever since I was a little girl, music has been a big part of my life. I had record players (boy am I dating myself!), my vinyl LPs and 45s. I know I must have worn out many players over the years. Then when CDs came along, I had shelf after shelf of music. I was always making cassettes or CDs of my favorite music, making sure a Walkman was with me all the time.
Needless to say, when the iPod became available I was overjoyed. So much music in one spot was hard to imagine but I filled mine up super fast. Thank goodness my new iPhone X has 256GB because it is filled with mostly music and photos (I take pics of almost everything – another source of inspiration).
Now I have playlists for inspiration too. I actually have songs that are categorized for each of my book series. When I find I’m stuck in my writing, I play a few songs and usually I’m able to get right back on track. I even find myself playing music when I’m painting, drawing, crocheting, cooking – well, just about everything. I even have a Trop-Rock music playlist that I made sure was on loud and clear when we were traveling through the Florida Keys a few weeks ago. It just lent to the feel of the islands.
So when you are in need of inspiration, what do you turn to? Books? Quotes? Songs? People? There are many things that can inspire us just when we need it the most.
Love & Hugs!
