Today I want to take you on a walk along Sombrero Beach in Marathon in the stunning Florida Keys.
I’ve been to the Keys many times but my first visit to Sombrero Beach was this past March. Even with the hurricane damage, this beach was beautiful. Lots of sandy areas, places for swimming in that clear aqua water that just sends you an invitation to come for a swim, go snorkeling and much more. There are picnic areas, a pavilion and even volleyball courts. But Sombrero Beach is special for another reason.
From April through October, Sombrero Beach has a very active loggerhead turtle nesting season. Plenty of volunteers become certified to be surveyors for nests to make sure they stay undisturbed until the baby loggerheads break free and make their trek to the sea. I have actually included these sea turtles in my book “Run Away to the Keys” because I just love sea turtles!
So here is another beach to put on your “Places To See In The Florida Keys” list. You won’t be disappointed!
PS – Still giving away prizes! Today’s winner of their choice of the Kindle version of one of “The Florida Keys Novels” is Connie Ruffing! I’ll be emailing you shortly!
Today’s prize is a “The Florida Keys Novels” coffee mug. Good Luck!
