One of the things that signals summertime to me is the smell of someone cooking out on the grill. And right now, there have been a lot of grills working overtime in my neighborhood.
When I was a little girl, my dad grilled our food a lot during the spring and summer months. Even into the fall since our temperatures stay warmer longer. Of course it was mostly hamburgers and hot dogs back then. But now, he is still the grill master of the family but there seems to be a lot of chicken and veggies being cooked.
Grilling out is the perfect time for families to get together. In our family, the ones not doing the cooking on the grill bring a dish to share. And with the size of my family (remember I have 47 first cousins!), we usually end up with a pretty big spread of all kinds of good food. But I have to admit it is usually the company surrounding me that is better than the grilled food. I just love it when our family can get together.
So do you like to grill out? Maybe even have a favorite recipe to share? Just let me know!
Let’s bring out the grill.
