The weekend is here again – YAY!!! As I said yesterday, I’ll probably be spending some of it inside but there’s so much happening in Charleston this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed I might be able to go to at least one event if only for a short time.
First, it’s the annual Cooper River Bridge Run. This 10K race started back in 1978 with a little over 700 runners/walkers making it to the finish line. Tomorrow’s race is expected to draw close to 44,000 participants so you can imagine what the traffic is like around Charleston this weekend! This race is listed as one of the top 10K races in the country and many famous people have tackled the bridge that spans from Mt. Pleasant to downtown Charleston.
Our next big event this weekend (and the one I want to go to!) is the Flowertown Festival. It is held in Summerville, SC, right outside of Charleston, with thousands of visitors attending each year. It began in 1972 and has been going strong, getting bigger every year. It is listed as one of the Top 20 Festivals in the Southeast with its displays of artisans, a farmer’s market and more. Plus, you get to walk outside among the blossoms of azaleas and other flowers though most have bloomed already this year but there are always those few that haven’t.
There are more activities going on around here and I’m sure your city is having its share of Spring events. I hope that whatever you do this weekend, you have a relaxing, enjoyable time. And if you find yourself at home, I know a few good books you might like to read – hint, hint!
XOXO,
Miki
