This might not be the best self-care tip but I think it’s pretty darn close. And here it is: when it comes to your self-care, don’t worry about other people’s opinions.
I know for me this is difficult at times. Today is a perfect example. I’m on ordered rest due to a case of Shingles and chose to have a “Twilight” movie marathon (yes I’m a happy “Twilight” nerd). I’ve honestly haven’t been out of the house! I’ve taken it easy, watched movies, did some computer work and crocheted. And it feels good. I needed this. The plan is a few more movie/relax/healing days.
Even though it’s hot outside (really hot!), some people think I’m nuts to stay inside with the shades drawn and binge watching movies. They think I need to be outside soaking in sunshine. Or maybe taking some supplements would help. Maybe gentle exercise. Or maybe I need to go somewhere to relax. Others think that the rest/relax order is just an excuse to be, what they consider, lazy.
But I know how I feel. I need the rest and watching the movies is relaxing for me. When it comes to your self-care, listen to your body. Listen to your intuition. It will be right every time.
