Have You Made Mistakes Or Learned Lessons?

It’s Monday again and today’s inspiration is huge. I know I say that almost every week but this quote can have a huge impact on you if you let the meaning of the words sink in.

There are so many times in life when we see ourselves as failures because something we tried didn’t work out. That “thing” could be big like a business, marriage, finances or something small such as baking a cake, forgetting your phone at home, being late and more. I think you get my point. These “failures” aren’t failures at all. We have to shift our thinking to see them as lessons.

We learn a lesson every time something we try or do doesn’t quite go as planned. If we view this as a “lesson” it gives us the ability to do something different next time we find ourselves in the same situation or trying that new thing one more time. The problem comes when we don’t take the time to see what we did wrong the first time around. But what if we did? That’s a win! We’ve learned a lesson!

I’ve done this many times – seeing my mistakes or failures as just that. But over the years I’ve begun looking at past mistakes as learning lessons and oh wow – what a difference it makes! I still have those times where I don’t see the “lesson” but that is becoming less and less as I take the time to see what happened in a situation and really look at all the angles to see what I can do differently next time.

So next time you want to berate yourself for having failed, just remember: it wasn’t a failure but a learning lesson that will make you a better person making better decisions.

Big Hugs!
