We’ve all heard about the Gratitude Journal and I love the idea. I write things that I’m grateful for and have done this for years (though not as consistently as I would like to). But the other day while listening to a podcast, I heard of another idea: a daily Accomplishment List.
At first I wasn’t too sure about the idea. Accomplishment List? All I could envision were big goals – big accomplishments – that would have to done each day. It sounded more daunting than confidence building. But as I listened further, the speaker said to make a list of your accomplishments each day. Sometimes it could be something like you sold your house, published your first book, finished that huge project at work, finished decorating the family room, etc. But the speaker encourage everyone to list the small things like “I got out of bed and actually made it up for the day”. Or “ (fill in the blank) said something unkind to me today but I responded positively”. Or “I was going to eat the chocolate cookie but I had an apple instead”. By listing the items that you accomplish each day, big and small, you see that you are much more capable than you thought. That you get more done than you thought.
So I’m going to start an “Accomplishment List” in my daily journal and challenge you to do the same. Then we can look back in a few months and actually see that we were productive. That we took the time for some self-care and self love by not beating ourselves up but instead focused on the what we did get done or accomplished.
Sending Happy Vibes To All!
What Have You Accomplished Today???
