A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes
Weddings are wonderful – from the more simple to the most elegant. Last night my husband and I got to attend a fairytale wedding.
My cousin Dennis and his now wife, Brantlee, had a Disney themed wedding. Both are avid Disney fans and I can truly say going to the wedding was like witnessing a fairytale. We sat on chairs that looked like glass. There were flowers and greenery surrounding us. Plus, the event took place at a mansion that was built in the 1890’s. Their wedding cake was a Disney themed projection cake. It looked like Tinkerbell herself was sprinkling pixie dust on the cake, bringing it to life as beautiful colors and pictures that moved and swirled from one cake tier to another. The bride and groom even shared their first dance as husband and wife to a Disney princess song that was so moving.
Besides enjoying their beautiful wedding, gaining a new cousin and enjoying the evening under the stars, I was happy that they celebrated their union in a way that was special to both of them. They didn’t let others dictate their choices. While some people would have said, “Disney – are you kidding?”, many of us were swooning over the decorations and the love that you could definitely feel in the air.
I remember when Jeff and I got married. Jeff wore jeans and white shirt. I wore denim capris and a white lace top. We both wore flip-flops so we could take them off and say our vows with our toes in the sand. We had a BBQ dinner for our guests. Nothing fancy but it was everything to us. Then we headed off to Disney World to be kids for a few days.
Leading up to my wedding day, I can’t tell you how many times people asked me these two questions: “Why are you getting married on the beach?” or “I can’t believe you are going to Disney World for your honeymoon. Isn’t there some place more romantic you’d like to go?” Well, as you know I LOVE the beach so that was a no brainer and thank goodness Jeff liked the idea too. As for Disney, like I said, we wanted to be carefree and childlike for a while, not worrying about anything. As far as I was concerned, everything was romantic as long as Jeff was there beside me.
When you have a passion for something, dream in your heart, don’t let people talk you out of it. Don’t doubt yourself and follow your heart. Just like Dennis and Brantlee’s wonderful wedding, your dream will be magical too.
Have a happy day!
