Dog Day At The Beach
Yesterday, Jeff and I decided to get up early and head to the beach for breakfast then a walk in the surf. We usually go to Folly Beach but changed things up and went to Sullivan’s Island instead. What a treat it was!
The part of the beach we went to allowed dogs on the sand until 10am. This was with or without a leash. Wow! There were so many furbabies having a fabulous time. They were completely in the moment, whether it was running all out down the beach leaving sand flying behind them. Or for a few it was retrieving the ball or frisbee that their owners flung out into the ocean water. For others it was just romping around in the surf, jumping over waves and occasionally taking a drink of the salty water before their owner’s could stop them.
I have to say it was such a treat to watch them. To be that carefree, completely having fun, thinking about nothing else but the run or the catch or the jump. Kinda makes you look at your life and wonder: What have I done that I was so immersed in that it just filled my love tank up to the max.
I guess I learned a lesson yesterday as I watched these incredible dogs enjoying the beach: I need to let loose and just enjoy more moments especially when I feel overwhelmed. But I have to say my fun moment would be sitting in the waves – not jumping or running through them!
