I love starting the week off with inspirational quotes – especially ones that make me pause and challenge how I’m feeling. And today’s quote is no exception.
Do you have times when you stand alone or do you mostly join the crowd? This has especially hit home with me lately as I think back over the last few months.
As I reach for my goals and dreams, there are many times where I’m standing alone. Not that I don’t have people in my life that support what I’m doing in spirit but when it comes down to doing the work, many people might say (or do say) that my decisions or ideas aren’t feasible. They will say things like: “It’ll never work.” “You don’t know the right people.” “You should do (fill in the blank)differently.”
At first I was able to resist the naysayers. I kept doing my thing. But over time I found myself gravitating toward those negative opinions thinking that their way may be best. I kept trying to be something I wasn’t, thinking their way was the only path to achieve or reach my goal. But I’ve learned differently over this last year.
It may have taken me a while to figure it out but I’m stepping out of that crowd and following my own path. It may be easy or it may be hard but at least it will be mine and no one else’s. That last sentence is scary and exciting all in one but I’ll admit: after reading how other trailblazers carved their own successful journey, I’m feeling more excitement than anxiety.
So here’s to everyone blazing their own trail and not joining the crowd!
Big Hugs!
