It’s the beginning of a new week and I always love posting a motivational quote. Even though I love all the ones I’ve posted so far, I’m especially fond of this one because I have to read it often as a reminder!
I have a tendency to be all work and no play at times. That is why this quote really hits home for me. Even as a creative person, when I get involved in a project, I can make it all about work instead of enjoying the process. So as part of my self-care plan this year, I’m taking time to purposefully seek out those things that make my heart “sing” – things that make me happy.
This can be a range of things – it just depends on what I’m interested in at the moment or the time of year. Example: With Spring around the corner, I’m planning an herb and lettuce garden. I’ve tried this several times in the past in which I failed. But this year I’m learning more up front instead of just going to the local store, buying whatever looks good at the moment and planting a seed/plant, hoping for growth. No, this time, I’m making sure beforehand to find out the correct way to do a garden and which plants I want especially my herbs. I’m making sure I have the right equipment and that I plant them in the best possible place for growth. The whole process brings a smile to my face as I imagine being able to eat food from my own garden this year – hopefully. And this is only one example of something I’m doing for fun! The trick it to keep it as a pleasurable activity and not turn it into a job or just something I have to do. This is the part of the process I’m working on!
So find something – every day – that makes you happy. Whether you are planning something, making something, spending time with special people, watching something, reading something – whatever it is, make sure you find yourself smiling and feeling happy even if only for a small time each day.
Big Hugs!
