I know the title of this blog post sounds very selfish and in a way it is but this is a good thing. Spreading love and kindness starts with ourselves.
I’ve written about this before but I think it bears repeating. I say it starts with us because if we don’t show ourselves some love and self-care, how can we expect to share it with others? If we continue to talk about ourselves negatively, treat our bodies with disrespect, beat ourselves up over mistakes, how can we be filled with love to share with others? We can’t. So it begins by being kind to ourselves.
Knowing this, what’s one nice thing you can do for yourself this weekend? It doesn’t have to be grandiose – it could be something as small as taking 15 minutes to read your favorite book. Or taking a nap. Or watching a favorite TV show. Or taking a walk out in nature. Or – well, I think you know what I’m trying to say.
Sometime this weekend, make a list of treats you could do for yourself. Things you enjoy and bring you happiness. Keep this list in your journal for future reference! This weekend choose one thing off that list and make it happen. Something I want to do is go sit on our dock by the river. If the weather permits, that’s my treat for myself. And hopefully Jeff will tag along and make it even better.
