I will admit right now on this blog post that I’m not a fan of exercise. Well, at least not structured exercise.
I really need to make sure I get that movement in everyday as most of us should (consult your doctor first thought!). For me I have to be careful because exercise can induce a flare in my illness or anaphylaxis – NOT FUN! My problem is that when I’m fatigued, the last thing I want to do is go for a bike ride, take a walk in the neighborhood, etc. And I can’t go to the gym because of my medical issues. We’re looking into a recumbent bike but haven’t quite made up our minds so what’s a girl to do? She puts on some kick-butt music and dances or walks the house.
That’s right – I walk my house. I know it may sound a bit crazy but it works. I got the idea some time ago from Leslie Sansome who developed several video programs geared to walking in place in your home to get in shape. After doing some research, I found that this method really does work and is great for those times when the weather is bad or you just don’t want to go outside. The best thing is that it doesn’t cost you a thing but maybe a good pair of walking shoes and your time. You basically step in place or walk around the interior of your home at a faster pace.
I know it may sound silly but it works. Now I have to remember to do it! I’m putting “exercise” on my habit tracker to make sure I do it every day. Let me know if you have any exercise tips that might help!
