Celebrating The First Day Of Summer
Wow, it’s hard to believe that today is the longest day of the year: the First Day of Summer!
I don’t know what the weather is like where you are but it definitely felt like summer in the Lowcountry today. Temperatures reached into the 90’s with the heat index topping out in the 100’s! I made sure to stay inside surrounded by air conditioning till this evening when my hubby and I decided to watch the sunset as a sort of celebration for the longest day.
The evening was perfect with a nice breeze blowing along the river. No storms or rain but beautiful clouds graced the skyline as we sat on the dock, relaxing. Now the days will start getting shorter though we won’t notice anything for a while. It’s hard to believe that our seasonal cycle will now be heading in the other direction toward fall and winter. But wait – we are celebrating summertime here!
Anyway, I hope you had a terrific first day of summer and have lots of fun activities planned. First on our list is our big family reunion this weekend! There tends to be a lot of us at these gatherings: usually around 130 people show up so I’ll let you know what the count is after the weekend festivities. Then Jeff and I have several things planned for summer plus I’m finishing a new book: “Camping in High Heels: Yellowstone”. This book is so much fun to write because I love the part of the country I’m writing about – Montana, Wyoming, Rocky Mountains and more!
Big Hugs everyone and try to stay cool!
