I’m so happy to introduce you to this week’s “Book To Read” – A Lowcountry Wedding by Mary Alice Monroe. Though it is the final book in the “Summer Girls” series, let me assure you that reading it on its own is perfectly fine.
The story revolves three granddaughters, two of which are focusing on their upcoming weddings in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. The story has many interesting twists and turns involving relationships within the family and romantic partners. I love how each character has depth and you want to know even more about her or him the more you read. Then there is the introduction of someone that completely injects the storyline with a “Wow” moment. I honestly don’t want to give too much away except to say I think you’ll love this book.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Monroe and have been to many of her author events. Let me just say she is a sweetheart. My very first book event I attended when I began my author’s journey was the book release party for A Lowcountry Wedding. It is where I met Mary Alice for the first time and she was beyond gracious, answering questions and wishing me good luck as a new author. And I also won the $1,000.00 Infinity Diamond necklace they were giving away as a grand prize that evening. To say the whole night was memorable is putting it mildly. I was introduced to other wonderful authors, got to see what a book event/release party was and enjoyed all the festivities. And did I mention it was on the beach? My happy place? Ah yes!
Another interesting fact about Mary Alice is that she is active in marine and ocean conservation. She is actually one of the turtle ladies that helps during turtle season here in the Lowcountry, making sure that nests are counted, eggs protected and after the nests have hatched, checking the eggs to see how many little turtle hatchlings have hopefully made it to the ocean. In this book, there is a dolphin named Delphine that is the marine character with her own very touching story that wraps right into the novel Mary Alice has written. This was special to me since I love dolphins!
So grab your copy of A Lowcountry Wedding! I truly believe you’ll feel that you have been transported to the heart of the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
