It’s the weekend and time to make some plans. Or maybe not? Why not take a few days off? I mean really off! I have a few ideas but one really sticks out and I would love to do it – again.
A few months ago I took a day off. When I say “day off” I mean a complete day of downtime: no phones, no cleaning, no working, no to-do lists, no agendas, no cooking – nothing unless it was something I wanted to do. My best friend Donna was visiting from Florida and it was the day before she was scheduled to leave. That morning we stayed in comfy clothes, grabbed some blankets and parked ourselves in front of the TV. We watched a “Harry Potter” movie then binge watched “Outlander”. We took breaks to warm up some food and grab our water but that was about it. The day was COMPLETELY WONDERFUL!!!!
For me a day off like that usually only occurs when I’m sick with a bad cold or something but to make a conscious choice to do nothing was amazing. Now I’m thinking about a repeat day this weekend. With it being a holiday on Sunday, taking time off and just relaxing sounds amazing. A day where nothing is planned, taking the time to do only what you want.
It sounds a bit selfish but like I’ve said before we all need time for ourselves. We need to recharge our batteries and for me taking time off is wonderful. But for others it might mean going for a run, visiting an art museum or going for a drive.
Make sure to take time off this weekend just for you!
