Go After Your Dreams!
I read somewhere the other day that in order to be successful you have to know what your mission is – what you want to accomplish. I mean, this does make sense and led me to think: what exactly is my mission as an author/blogger/artist.
When I first began my career as an author, I was only going to write one little booklet about my story as both a patient with a rare chronic illness and a caregiver to a child with multiple birth defects. My doctors’ hope (mine too!) was that my story would help other people and parents identify with my situation so they would know they weren’t alone. I would also be able to offer tips and suggestions to help them along in their journey.
Little did I know that writing that little booklet would turn into a fiction novel based in reality for me. My mission with that first book was to help others by writing a fiction story that they could get lost in but at the same time see someone that was handling life’s difficulties the best she could. That maybe the readers would see a bit of hope or even a suggestion to do something different to help manage their situations.
After I realized that the writing bug had bit me, my “Florida Keys Novels” all involved strong female characters dealing with different life events – showing their strengths and weaknesses. But I have always wanted to make sure that someone reading my novels would get to that last page and feel good. I love books with happy endings so I made sure mine always did and they still do!
I also wanted to incorporate into my characters some of the very things I love to do. Examples: Maddie loves to paint; Abbey loves art; Skylar loves the ocean and boats; Garrett is a marine biologist (this was my major in college); Everly loves tech and gadgets; Bailey loves to plan and organize; Chase loves photography; Kate loves to travel, learn new things and meet new people; Brandon loves online businesses but enjoys the freedom of travel.
So after giving it some more thought my mission with my books and website is to create novels/novellas that share the things I’m passionate about through my characters while letting the reader enjoy a book with a happy ending. On my website I can share, in more depth, information about the things I find interesting and am passionate about through this blog and my resource page. I can also offer items in my shop that I think my readers would enjoy having for their very own.
In the coming weeks and months, I will be updating my resource page and tweaking a few other things. But also writing more novels in the “Camping” series and two new book series are on the way! How exciting! And I can’t wait to share this all with you.
Big Hugs To All!
