As part of giving myself so downtime or self-care time, I decided to binge watch a TV show. Jeff had just watched all the “Outlander” series with me so I made him a promise that we would watch all seasons of the “Game of Thrones” before the new one begins next month.
Well, I watched the first episode, and I was hooked. I have to say the storyline was a bit tense (putting it mildly) but I enjoyed it. Today I finished all 7 seasons and can’t wait for next month! Jeff watched many of the shows with me but sometimes I hunkered down with my crochet (I finished 4 projects while watching). The shows felt like I was reading a book I couldn’t put down.
Now while I say how much I liked the series, there is a flip side too. You see, I’m very sensitive to these stress-filled series. I usually don’t watched shows that involve this much violence because, frankly, it gives me bad vibes. I tried watching “The Walking Dead” and it freaked me out. I had nightmares! Well, I have discovered that binge watching “Game of Thrones” filled my stress bucket to overflowing though I enjoyed the story.
I know it just a show but ya’ll, when I get into a book, movie or TV show, I get vested in it. I like to figure out the characters, the environment, why someone does what they do and so forth. I do know one thing: the writer of “Game of Thrones” George R. R. Martin is a genius. I have no earthly idea how he kept up with so many characters, cities, countries, family lines, and more. The fantasy world he created is amazing and scary. I’m tempted to read the books but maybe I’ll wait for a while. Like maybe next year!
I do know that I need some very light-hearted books, movies and shows for a while. Probably increase my meditation too so I can relax more. I know this all may sound silly to you but I’ve talked to others that are effected by the things they watch or read. So on that note make sure that you are enjoying your entertainment and if you get stressed like me, take some time to unwind.
