For the last 14 months, I have written a blog post every single day – 427 to be exact! It was an awesome experience and I did it for several reasons.
First, I wanted to learn how to blog. I wanted to find my voice on what to write about so I could build my website for you, my readers. But secondly, I wanted to challenge myself. It started as a commitment to write a post each day for 30 days but grew into something much bigger. And I learned a few things along the way:
-I could make new habits by sticking to a plan. And not just blogging but in other areas of my life too!
-I tried something new! Was I afraid? You bet but I moved forward anyway. I proved to myself that I could try new things and if I succeeded – Yay! If not, I learned a new lesson.
-I put myself out there and though it was intimidating at first, my confidence grew.
-I’ve learned more about writing, grammar, subjects, etc., than ever before (and still learning).
-I finished a challenge and that made me feel so good! I was able to put a “win” on my “Achievements” list in my journal.
-I learned SO MUCH about websites and social media, which is fun for me.
But one of the most important things I’ve learned is what I’m really passionate about and what I want to share with you in future posts, emails and on social media. That’s why the website is getting a new look and I’m making some changes.
First and foremost, my novels will always be a priority. Though publications dates for my future books have been delayed a little bit, I’m writing my new novel and novella – just more slowly at the moment. Right now that self care I’ve been writing about in some of my blog posts is high on my priority list and when I write I’m able to get immersed into another world. This is a stress reduction technique for me.
Next, I’m bringing you my love for journals and planners. I’ve loved blank books, journals, planners, personal growth workbooks, etc., since I was a little girl. I’ll continue with featuring new journal prompts each week but I’m also excited to announce that my next book is actually a journal! It will be a book for you to write in, decorate, use for a daily notebook – whatever! I can’t wait to show you more because it will be a book for you, about you and written by you. I know at the moment this might sound a bit confusing but in a few weeks I’ll be sharing more about this exciting new book.
A future project of mine is a personal planner. As I said before I love planners! It seems I try a new one each time one becomes available. Until my planner project is complete, I’ll be sharing tips about the current planner(s) I use, how to use them, what to put in them, how to decorate them and more. If you’re a planner addict like me stay tuned!
I’m really excited about everything that is going on in my little world and most of all that I get to share it with you! I love writing novels but I also like talking about my other creative pursuits. You’ll probably see some posts about things such as crochet, jewelry making, alcohol ink painting, health & wellness and more! Oh and then there is the BEACH!
I love sharing my “beachy” stuff with you. Plus now that it’s summer (well almost) the beach is calling to me. I love the sand, the surf, and the sound of the waves crashing to shore. I love to watch for the sea turtles that are laying nests then going back to see how many little hatchlings made their way to the sea. I love the pelicans flying overhead and the occasional stingray, crab or even a shark I see as I walk in the surf. It’s my “happy” place and I’m glad I can give you, my friends, a glimpse into my coastal life.
So look for changes on the website and my social media. I hope you like this new journey of mine and that you’ll come along for the ride.
Now here are the journal prompts for this week! Have fun with them!
- What good habit would you like to begin this month?
- How would you describe yourself to a stranger?
- How are you making the world a better place?
- When was the last time you indulged yourself and how?
- Who are your role models and what qualities do you have in common?
- What’s one choice you can make right now that your future self would thank you for?
- What are you really good at?
