Yes, I know that summer is half over but I’m just now finding – or shall I say making the time – for a little garden on my porch. And feels so good!
Since my porch is only about 6’ wide, it won’t be a big container garden but that is fine with me. I now have 3 hibiscus plants (I love the blooms) and will be growing organic herbs that are anti-inflammatory and stabilize histamine to help with the illness I have.
The most important thing is getting more nature time. I used to grow plants all time – inside the house and outside. But most of my indoor plants had to go due to potential mold issues. The outside plants at one time were just too much to take care of because I got too ambitious and wanted this large garden. Now after quite a few years of not having any plants at all except a Christmas cactus that I love, I’m ready to have a few plants.
I’m looking forward to watching the flowers bloom and the herbs scent the air. Also I’ll be able to cook and make teas with the herbs in hopes of improving my family’s health and mine. Come to think about it, I might just have to put a gardener in one of my upcoming book series and I think I know just the one where he or she will make a terrific character.
Do you have your own garden? If you have any green thumb tips that might help my little porch garden grow this late in the season I would love to hear them.
Happy Saturday!
Miki
