I love collecting inspirational quotes. When things are busy or you just aren’t feeling “it”, the right saying or quote can help.
I particularly love this one: You never lose. You either win or you learn. This one I think is particularly powerful. If we look at the experiences we go through and label them as a #1 – win or #2 – since this didn’t work out, now I know what not to do, it can be a confidence booster. It is very easy to feel failure when something doesn’t work out quite like you had planned. So try to reframe it as just another way not to do something.
On my author journey so far, I’ve had to adopt this attitude. From my very first novel I wrote, I didn’t know anything about the world of being an author. Over the last three years I’ve had my share of things that didn’t work out and honestly at first I thought I had failed. But now I look back and can see that it was just a way of learning this area that was so new to me. Now that feeling of failure might visit me every now and then but it doesn’t hang around for long. All because I choose to see it differently now.
So don’t see your mistakes are failures but just something you learned along your path.
You either win or you learn.
