It’s that time of year when Charleston starts getting busy. Even though Spring has yet to come (though the weather is starting to feel like it), festivals and events are already here.
This weekend Charleston hosts the Southeastern Wildlife Expo. This is a huge annual event that takes place in downtown Charleston. It seems like the expo covers the whole downtown area! LOL! It is 3 days of learning about wildlife, conservation, and nature through educational talks, demonstrations and art. It is the largest Wildlife event in the United States, drawing over 40,000 attendees each year.
But this is just the start of the “season”, as I call it. It seems from this weekend on, things get busy and exciting around Charleston in a good way. Lots of festivals and events showcasing the fun and history of our wonderful city and surrounding areas. I’ll try to give you a taste of some of these as they occur but I won’t be going to the Expo this weekend. Still feeling a bit under the weather and it will be pretty crowded downtown as you can probably imagine. But if you are in the Charleston area, I encourage you to go to the Wildlife Expo and have fun.
If you aren’t in Charleston, check your local city’s website or paper for events happening nearby. Even though the weather is still frigid in parts of the country, I see the evidence of more city and town events coming to life as we head toward Spring. Sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s only a month away!
Have a great weekend!
