What can I say? I love the beach.
I’m sure that over the last few months I have written a similar blog to what I’m posting today. But this one is just a bit different.
You see over the last six to seven months, things have been, shall we say, busy and overwhelming. I’ve done my best to see things in a positive light but, I have to admit there were some days that I just said to heck with it and pulled the covers over my head. This past week has even been a bit chaotic, to say the least: two ER trips, multiple doctors appointments, events that were already scheduled and projects that were due.
So this morning I asked my adorable husband if we could go to the beach. Most of the time this isn’t a big deal since I have a tendency to go all the time but this morning was different. I hadn’t been to my favorite place in over a month! That’s huge for me, but I haven’t been feeling up to it due to obligations and health issues. But this morning, I didn’t care how I was feeling or what was going on – I wanted to go to the beach.
As soon as we arrived, I knew I had made the right decision. The temperatures outside couldn’t have been more perfect, and the sky above was mostly blue dotted with some puffy white clouds here and there. The sand beneath my feet was a bit chilly but felt good, and a walk in the ocean waves was just the right medicine to help me stress less. I got some exercise in by walking along the shoreline, feet moving against the incoming waves. I was able to soak in some much-needed Vitamin D courtesy of the sun. And best of all I had my husband by my side to share this beautiful morning. It was like my visit to the beach was a booster shot I needed for everything that is going on at the present moment.
Do you have a place for you that helps you to stress less? Maybe a place that seems to take away the overwhelm of everyday life if only for a short time? If you feel up to sharing, I would love to know about your particular spot.
